  • The Jackson Hole Symposium is an annual economic conference hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City each August. Speeches there by central bank leaders often signal shifts in policy.

  • The Japanese yen is the currency of Japan and is often treated as a safe haven. It is sensitive to Bank of Japan policy and to the gap between Japanese and US interest rates.
